Buckeyes get a slight scare
Ohio State wasn’t as dominant as usual last weekend, beating Penn State at home 28-17 thanks to a few too many turnovers. The Buckeyes still got a win and improved to 11-0 on the year and 8-0 in the Big Ten. Ohio State is 8-3 against the spread and 5-5-1 with the over/under total.
The Buckeyes are among the best nationally in offense and defense, ranking first in scoring on both sides of the ball. Ohio State is putting up 49.4 points and 531 yards per game this season while allowing 10.5 points and 217.7 yards per game. J.K. Dobbins has rushed for 1,446 yards and 15 touchdowns this year while Justin Fields has 2,352 passing yards and 33 touchdowns while also rushing for 445 yards and 10 scores. Master Teague III has added 751 yards on the ground. Chris Olave is the top receiver with 39 catches for 637 yards and 10 touchdowns. Chase Young is the dominant defensive end for the Buckeyes. He has 38 tackles with 16.5 sacks.
Michigan continues to improve
Michigan has been riding a hot streak for over a month. The Wolverines have won four straight by at least 25 points after beating Indiana on the road last week, 39-14. Michigan is now 9-2 on the season, 6-2 in the Big Ten, 7-4 against the spread and 8-3 with the over.
The Wolverines are one of the stronger defenses in the nation as well, allowing just 16.2 points and 268.2 yards per game. Offensively, Michigan is putting up 33.5 points and 403.3 yards per contest. Shea Patterson has really looked solid in the last month and now has 2,523 passing yards with 21 touchdowns. Nico Collins is his top receiver, catching 31 passes for 649 yards and seven scores. Zach Charbonnet is the top rusher with 635 yards and 11 touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Ohio State
The Buckeyes are 4-1 with the over in their last five road games and 4-1 with the over in their last five November games.
Michigan
The Wolverines are 23-9-1 with the over in their last 33 home games and 40-17-1 with the over in their last 58 games overall.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in six straight meetings and it’s because Ohio State has been able to score at will on the Wolverines. I think that may be the case again this week. The total is pretty low for an Ohio State game due to last week’s turnover fest that kept them to 28 points against Penn State. You can’t expect turnovers to bite them again this week against a rival. Michigan DC Don Brown has not been able to draw up a defense that has stopped Ohio State and I think he will come up short this time as well. Michigan may be able to find some success with its surging pass game, as the Buckeyes may be facing the best offense they have seen all year, which isn’t saying much.
