Tigers continue to roll
Clemson has left little doubt that it is playing its best football right now. The Tigers have won their last six games by at least 31 and their last four by at least 45. They are coming off a 52-3 drubbing of Wake Forest at home two weeks ago to move to 11-0 on the year. They are also 8-3 against the spread and 6-5 with the under.
The Tigers are among the best in the nation on both sides of the ball. The offense is putting up 45.9 points and 543.1 yards per game, while the defense is allowing 10.7 points and 238.2 yards per contest. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 2,575 yards and 27 touchdowns this year while Travis Etienne has rushed for 1,335 yards and 14 touchdowns. Tee Higgins is the leading receiver with 40 catches for 799 yards and eight touchdowns, while Isaiah Simmons is leading the defense with 74 tackles and five sacks.
South Carolina hammered at A&M
South Carolina has lost its last two games coming into this weekend, suffering a 30-6 loss at Texas A&M two weeks ago. The Gamecocks are 4-7 on the season, 5-6 against the spread and 7-4 with the under.
The Gamecocks have struggled to score consistently this year, averaging just 24.2 points and 389.9 yards per game. Defensively, South Carolina is giving up 25 points and 381.2 yards per game. Ryan Hilinksi has thrown for 2,252 yards and 11 touchdowns this year to lead the offense. Tavien Feaster is the top rusher with 625 yards and five touchdowns while Bryan Edwards has caught 71 passes for 816 yards and six touchdowns. Edwards is listed as doubtful to play due to a knee injury.
College Football Betting Trends
Clemson
The Tigers have hit the under in five of their last seven road games and 5-2 in their last road games against a team with a losing home record.
South Carolina
South Carolina has hit the under in four of their last five non-conference games and in 12 of their last 16 against ACC opponents.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in three of their last four meetings, largely due to Clemson’s offense. The Tigers have put up 56 points in two of the last three meetings on their own. I could see more of the same this week. South Carolina has given up 41 to Tennessee, 38 to Florida and 30 to Texas A&M in recent games. Clemson is a far superior offense to that. The Tigers are clicking on all cylinders and likely to push for 50 points again on their own. The Clemson defense is going to be able to handle this SC offense as well, but the Gamecocks should still find around 10 points to help the over hit.
