Cougars heating up
Washington State has won two straight games coming into this game after beating Stanford and Oregon State in recent weeks. The Cougars are now 6-5 on the season, 3-5 in the Pac-12, 4-7 against the spread and 7-4 with the over.
The Cougars have struggled defensively all season, giving up 31.5 points and 467.2 yards per game. Despite that, the offense is pretty strong. WSU is putting up 41.5 points and 533 yards per contest. Quarterback Anthony Gordon is having a huge year, as he has thrown for 4,920 yards and 45 touchdowns this season. Eason Winston Jr. is the leading receiver with 77 receptions for 914 yards and 11 touchdowns. Max Borghi is the leading rusher with 740 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Huskies can’t get on track
Washington is coming off a 20-14 loss at Colorado. The Huskies have dropped three of their last four games coming into this week. They now sit at 6-5 on the season, 3-5 in the Pac-12, 6-5 against the spread and 6-5 with the over.
The Huskies are respectable on defense this year, allowing just 21.1 points and 360.1 yards per game. Offensively, Washington is putting up 31.5 points and 402.3 yards per game. Jacob Eason has thrown for 2,678 passing yards and 21 touchdowns to lead the offense. Salvon Ahmed is the leading rusher with 915 yards and nine touchdowns, while Hunter Bryant is the top receiver with 46 catches for 729 yards and three scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Washington State
The Huskies have hit the over in four straight conference games and in 21 of their last 29 road games.
Washington
The Huskies have hit the under in seven of their last 10 conference games and in five of their last seven Friday games.
Prediction:
These two are 2-1-1 with the over in their last four meetings. Washington has been able to contain the Washington State offense over the years, holding the Cougars to 17 points or less in six straight meetings. If Washington State can’t score, it’s going to be hard for the over to hit. The Huskies aren’t an offense that are going to put up a big number themselves. While I would expect more than average against a bad Washington State defense, not enough to carry the over largely on their own. The Huskies seem to have the kryptonite for Mike Leach, so I look for the Cougars to struggle to score again this year on the road.
