Red Raiders drop another
Texas Tech has lost five of its last six games, including a 30-27 loss at home to Kansas State this past weekend. The Red Raiders are now 4-7 on the season, 2-6 in the Big 12, 6-4-1 against the spread and 5-4-2 with the over.
Tech has one of the worst defenses in the country, allowing 28.6 points and 468.9 yards per game. Their pass defense is allowing over 300 yards per contest. Offensively, Tech remains pretty solid. The Raiders put up 31.1 points and 474 yards per game, including over 316 yards per contest through the air. Jett Duffey is leading the way with 2,441 passing yards and 16 touchdowns while also throwing for 226 yards and a score. R.J. Turner is the leading receiver with 41 catches for 619 yards and three scores, while SaRodorick Thompson is the leading rusher with 679 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Texas coming up short
It’s been a disappointing season for the Longhorns, as they have lost three of their last four games, including a 24-10 loss at Baylor last weekend. Texas is now 6-5 on the season, 4-4 in the Big 12, 5-6 against the spread and 6-5 with the over.
Texas has a pretty good offense that is putting up 33.7 points and 456 yards per game. Defensively, the Longhorns are giving up 29.4 points and 444.1 yards per game. Sam Ehlinger is leading the team with 3,114 passing yards and 27 touchdowns, while also rushing for 507 yards and five scores. Keaontay Ingram is the leading rusher with 728 yards and six scores, while Devin Duvernay is the leading receiver with 97 catches for 1,095 yards and seven touchdowns. Both Ingram and Duvernay are questionable for this game due to injuries.
College Football Betting Trends
The Red Raiders are 5-1 with the over in their last six Friday games and 19-9 with the over with the over in their last 28 road games against a team with a winning home record.
The Longhorns are 24-8 with the under in their last 32 games in November and 48-20 with the under in their last 68 conference games.
These two have hit the under in five of their last seven meetings, which is surprising given their offensive history. Despite the unders, they have still combined for 75 points or more in three of their last four meetings. I am surprised to see the total for this one under 70. Both defenses are a mess and going to give up a lot of points to the other, especially through the air. Each offense has the ability to break out with long scoring plays, so don’t look for many great defensive stops. I expect this game to be a show.
