TCU vs. Texas Prediction
Will a motivated Texas team beat TCU today at 3:30PM ET when the in-state rivals clash in Austin?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Longhorns are now 3.5-point home favorites versus the Horned Frogs after the game opened as a pick'em. As for the total, the number hit the board at 60.5 and that's where it currently sits at most sports books.
TCU KEY TRENDS: The Horned Frogs are just 1-5 at the betting window in their last six games and are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven conference tilts. They're also winless against the spread at 0-5 when taking on an opponent with a losing record and are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games coming off a straight up loss of more than 20 points. (TCU was embarrassed by Oklahoma State last Saturday at home.)
TEXAS KEY TRENDS: The Longhorns are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games and are 5-2 at the betting window in their last seven games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous contest. That said, they're just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games in November. The under is also 6-0 in Texas' last six games overall and is 24-9 in its last 33 conference games.
OUR PREDICTION: There were rumblings that Texas' players wanted to boycott this game in support of Charlie Strong, who has seemingly been on the hot seat for over two years. But with Tom Herman reportedly set to take the LSU job, Strong might have a chance to save his job in Austin if his players can muster a win today. Look for the Longhorns to be extra motivated against a TCU team that only has bowl eligibility to play for. If that was motivation enough, then the Horned Frogs would have put together a better effort last week against OK State, but instead TCU was routed 31-6 after scoring the first six points of the game. The Horned Frogs are likely walking into a buzzsaw today.
