Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Miami is favored at home, as the Hurricanes are getting odds of -5 points against Pittsburgh. The over/under total is currently listed at 47 points. The public betting currently has 69 percent going on Pittsburgh on the road.

Miami looking for big win

Miami put an end to a four-game losing streak last weekend with a 38-14 win at Virginia Tech last weekend. The Hurricanes are 6-5 overall and 3-4 in the ACC. Miami is 4-7 against the spread and 5-5-1 with the over/under total. Miami has covered in just one of its last six games.

The Canes are pretty strong on defense this year, allowing just 19.5 points and 274.5 yards per game. Their pass defense is allowing just 141.7 yards per game. Offensively, Miami is putting up 31.5 points and 377.3 yards per game this year. The run game has been the strength of the offense, led by Travis Homer, who has 801 rushing yards and three touchdowns. DeeJay Dallas is adding 570 rushing yards and five scores. N’Kosi Perry has thrown for 1,037 yards and 13 touchdowns in limited action.

Pitt with not much at stake

Pittsburgh has secured its spot in next week’s ACC Championship already thanks to a 34-13 win at Wake Forest last weekend. Pitt is now 7-4 overall and 6-1 in the ACC. The Panthers are 7-4 against the spread and 6-5 with the under. They have covered in six straight games.

The Panthers are putting up 30.1 points and 403 yards per game on offense this season, led by a ground game that is putting up 247.5 rushing yards per contest. Qadree Ollison is leading the way with 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns while Darrin Hall has 888 yards and nine touchdowns. Kenny Pickett is the QB and has thrown for 1,695 yards and 12 touchdowns. Defensively, Pittsburgh is allowing 28.1 points and 404.9 yards per game.

College Football Betting Trends

Miami

Miami has failed to cover in six straight against winning teams and is 2-5 ATS in its last seven home games.

Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh has covered the spread in five straight conference games and is 5-2-1 ATS in its last eight road games.

Prediction:

Miami’s defense is tough to deal with. The Canes have been very strong on that side of the ball this year, they just haven’t had much of an offense to help the defense out. Pitt is an offense that has scored on even the best offensive teams. The Panthers may not have much to play for, but that doesn’t mean they won’t show up. Pat Narduzzi is a proud man and he won’t accept a lackluster effort regardless of the circumstances. I expect the Panthers to find ways to score on Miami, while the Canes struggle to produce points consistently.
