West Virginia gets back to winning
West Virginia is coming off a surprising win on the road last weekend, best Kansas State 24-20 to put an end to a five-game losing streak. The Mountaineers are now 4-6 on the season, 2-5 in the Big 12, 4-5-1 against the spread and 6-4 with the under.
Usually known for its offense, things have been ugly for West Virginia this year. The Mountaineers are averaging just 21.4 points and 328.8 yards per game this year. Defensively, WVU is giving up 30.9 points and 421.8 yards per contest. Austin Kendall is leading West Virginia this year with 1,989 passing yards and 12 touchdowns, but he also has 10 interceptions. Sam James is the leading receiver with 59 catches for 627 yards and two scores while Leddie Brown is the leading rusher with just 289 yards and a score. Darius Stills is leading the WVU defense with 40 tackles and seven sacks.
Oklahoma State back on track
Oklahoma State is riding a three-game win streak right now following a 31-13 win over Kansas at home last weekend. The Cowboys have held their last three opponents to 27 points or less. Oklahoma State is 7-3 on the season, 4-3 in the Big 12, 8-2 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total
The Cowboys have been improving on defense this season, now giving up 27.7 points and 423.4 yards per contest. Kolby Harvell-Peel is leading the unit with 60 tackles and five interceptions. Offensively, Oklahoma State is putting up 36.5 points and 494.7 yards per game. Chuba Hubbard has been one of the top running backs in the country this year, rushing for 1,726 yards and 20 touchdowns. Spencer Sanders has thrown for 2,065 yards and 16 touchdowns while rushing for 625 yards and two scores. Tylan Wallace is the leading receiver with 53 catches for 903 yards and eight touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
West Virginia
West Virginia is just 1-3-2 against the spread in its last six home games and 1-4-1 ATS in its last six games following a cover.
Oklahoma State
The Cowboys are 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 games on fieldturf and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Prediction:
Oklahoma State has won and covered the spread in four straight with West Virginia, using offense to get the job done. Today, I think defense will be what leads the Cowboys to another win and cover. WVU has been a mess on offense most of the year, struggling to score on bad defensive teams. The Cowboys have seen a defensive surge in their last three games and that should continue today, even on the road. Oklahoma State has a lot of offensive playmakers, but the Cowboys are leveling out around 30-35 points. That should still be enough to cover today.
