TCU vs. Texas Pick
Is the total set too high in Friday afternoon’s tilt between TCU and Texas at 3:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Longhorns are now 3-point home favorites versus the Horned Frogs after the game opened as a pick’em. As for the total, the number opened at 60.5 and has been bet down a full point to 59.5.

For reasons only Vegas knows, the Horned Frogs were a 6.5-point home favorite last Saturday against the Cowboys. Predictably, TCU got smashed 31-6 after taking a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. The Horned Frogs are now just 5-5 overall and 2-8 against the spread, although with a win on Friday they can become bowl eligible. They have failed to cover in five of their last six games overall.
After the Longhorns lost to Kansas 24-21 in overtime last Saturday, Charlie Strong’s future at Texas has been rehashed and debated all week. The program is likely to move on from Strong at the end of the season, but for now he will coach against TCU on Friday. The Longhorns can still become bowl eligible with a win, as they sit at 5-6 on the year. They have a winning record against the spread at 6-5, but have failed to cover in back-to-back losses to West Virginia and Kansas, respectively.

OUR PREDICTION: The under is 4-1 in the Horned Frogs’ last five games overall, is 4-1 in their last five road games and is 4-1 in their last five conference games. On the other side, the under is a perfect 6-0 in the Longhorns’ last six games, is 24-9 in their last 33 conference games and is 35-17-1 in their last 53 home games. With the way Texas often plays defense, it’s tempting to take the over and hope the points rack up quickly. But TCU’s offense has been inconsistent all season and Gary Patterson’s defense is playing much better than it did at the start of the year, so take the under.
