Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Tigers are 26-point favorites to beat the Gamecocks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 64.5 points. As of this writing, 60% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Gamecocks.
South Carolina Gamecocks
South Carolina junior QB Jake Bentley completed 25-of-29 passes for 339 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday’s 49-9 win against Chattanooga. Bentley did his thing and then put on a ball cap, giving way to Michael Scarnecchia, Jay Urich and Dakereon Joyner, as all three of those backup signal callers completed at least one pass in the 40-point victory. Bentley obviously did the most damage as the Gamecocks officially became bowl eligible. They’ll travel to Clemson next Saturday night before hosting Akron on Dec. 1.
Clemson Tigers
Clemson freshman QB Trevor Lawrence completed 21-of-38 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-6 victory over Duke on Saturday. Lawrence (6’6/215) also ran for 26 yards. The completion percentage here isn’t ideal, but, it’s also misleading. The Tigers had a major case of what we call the “dropsies,” and several beautiful throws from the freshman signal-caller. He did miss on a couple of throws early, but most of the evening he was excellent and showed why he’s as talented of a freshman quarterback as we’ve seen in some time. Lawrence has another chance for a big game next Saturday against South Carolina.
Betting Trends
South Carolina
The under is 6-1 in the Gamecocks’ last seven games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous contest.
Clemson
The under is 4-0 in the Tigers’ last four games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
Prediction
The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and with how well Clemson is playing defensively coming into this matchup, I like the under again on Saturday night. The under is 4-1 in the Tigers’ last five non-conference games and is 27-11-1 in their last 39 home games. The under is also 10-3 in the Gamecocks’ last 13 games against the ACC, is 6-2 in their last eight road games and 19-7 in their last 26 games coming off a win.
College Football Prediction: South Carolina/Clemson under 58.5
