Iowa Hawkeyes Game Notes

Iowa redshirt sophomore QB Spencer Petras completed nine-of-18 passes for 111 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in Friday's 35-7 win over Minnesota. If nothing else, a 111-1-1 stat line is aesthetically pleasing. Petras got to coast by for most of this one off the back of a strong run game led by RB Tyler Goodson, though. In fact, Goodson's 7.1 yards per carry was almost a full yard better than Petras' 6.2 yards per pass. Through four games, Petras has yet to have a single game with at least seven yards per attempt. He also now has three touchdowns to four interceptions on the year. Perhaps Petras can settle in down the stretch of the season.

Penn State Nittany Lions Game Notes

Penn State redshirt freshman QB Will Levis completed 14-of-31 passes for 219 yards and added 61 yards on the ground in a 30-23 loss to Nebraska on Saturday. Levis was going to get snaps anyway, but he replaced Sean Clifford early in this one after Clifford went just 5-for-8 for 37 yard with an interception. Levis wasn't much better as a thrower, made some plays with his legs, and almost completed a comeback from a 27-6 halftime deficit. Almost doesn't count for much in Happy Valley, and Penn State is now a disastrous 0-4. The 6-foot-3, 229-pound quarterback likely gets the start next Saturday against Iowa.

Iowa vs. Penn State Betting Prediction

The Hawkeyes are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games overall, are 5-1 against the number in their last six road games versus an opponent with a losing home record and have cashed in five of their last six games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous contest. The Nittany Lions, meanwhile, are just 1-7 against the spread in their last eight home games, have failed to cover in four straight overall and are 0-5 at the window in their last five conference games dating back to last season.
