Georgia Tech unable to get on track
Georgia Tech has had a rough go of things in 2019. The Yellow Jackets are currently on a three-game losing streak following a 45-0 loss to Virginia Tech last weekend. Tech is now just 2-8 on the season, 1-6 in the ACC, 2-8 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total.
Geoff Collins took over Tech this year and moved the team away from the option offense. The Jackets have struggled on offense this year, averaging just 16.5 points and 290.4 yards per game. Defensively, Tech is allowing 31.1 points and 412.2 yards per contest. Jordan Mason is leading the offense with 721 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while James Graham has thrown for 995 yards and eight touchdowns, but has seven interceptions. Graham also has 166 rushing yards and two scores. Ahmarean Brown is the leading receiver with 18 catches for 365 yards and five touchdowns.
N.C. State continues to slide
N.C. State has lost its last four games following a 34-20 loss to Louisville at home last weekend. The Wolfpack are now 4-6 on the year, 1-5 in the ACC, 2-8 against the spread and 6-4 with the under.
The Wolfpack have struggled to find consistent offense this year, as they are averaging just 22.9 points and 383.5 yards per game. Defensively, N.C. State is giving up 29.2 points and 377.2 yards per game. Devin Leary has taken over the starting QB position in recent games. He has thrown for 894 yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions. Zonovan Knight is leading the offense with 589 rushing yards and four touchdowns while Emeka Emezie is the leading receiver with 51 catches for 521 yards and two scores. Defensively, Larrell Murchison is leading the way with 43 tackles and seven sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech is 2-6 against the spread in its last eight conference games and 7-18-1 ATS in its last 26 games on grass.
N.C. State
N.C. State 2-5 against the spread in its last nine against a losing team and 0-4 ATS in its last four conference games.
Prediction:
This series has actually belonged to the road team. They have won six straight while going 5-0-1 against the spread. Despite that, I like Tech at home tonight. The Wolfpack have given up at least 34 points in four straight, including at least 44 in three of the four. N.C. State just can’t score and it can’t stop anyone. Despite getting dominated by Virginia Tech last week, Georgia Tech was showing some growth in recent weeks. The Yellow Jackets were competitive with Pitt and Virginia while picking up an OT win at Miami. I feel like Tech is somewhat trending upward, while N.C. State is headed in the wrong direction.
