Boise State rolling along
Boise State is riding a three-game winning streak entering this weekend after the Broncos ran over New Mexico last week, 42-9. Boise State is 9-1 on the season, 6-0 in the MWC, 5-4-1 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total.
The Broncos have been steady on both sides of the ball this year. The defense is giving up just 21.3 points and 339 yards per game, while the offense is putting up 36.1 points and 454.8 yards per contest. Hank Bachmeier has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury and is questionable to go this weekend as well. He has thrown for 1,760 yards and nine touchdowns. Jaylon Henderson played last week and he has thrown for 380 yards and four touchdowns. George Holani is the team’s leading rusher with 692 yards and five touchdowns while John Hightower is the leading receiver with 754 yards and six touchdowns. The Boise defense is led by Curtis Weaver, who has 42 tackles and 12.5 sacks. He is also questionable for this game with a foot injury.
Utah State heating up
Utah State is riding a two-game win streak coming into this weekend. The Aggies are coming off a 26-21 win at home over Wyoming. Utah State is now 6-4 on the season, 5-1 in the Mountain West, 6-4 against the spread and 6-4 with the under.
The Aggies are middle of the road on offense and defense. They are giving up 26.7 points and 431.2 yards per contest, while the offense is putting up 28 points and 434.2 yards per game. Jordan Love has thrown for 2,684 yards and 13 touchdowns, but he also has 14 interceptions. He is questionable for this game with an undisclosed injury. Gerold Bright is the leading rusher, who has 670 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Siaosi Mariner has 49 receptions for 753 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the receivers.
College Football Betting Trends
The Broncos are 8-1 with the under in their last nine against a winning team and 8-2 with the under in their last 10 conference games.
The Aggies have hit the under in seven straight following a win and in seven of their last eight conference games.
These two are 6-3-1 with the over in their last 10 meetings. The injuries are concerning and certainly the status of the quarterbacks will impact the total. The games that Utah State have largely been due to a strong defensive showing and the Aggies will need that on Saturday if they hope to compete. Boise State has a great defense that should be able to contain the Utah State offense. The Broncos have been playing to their competition a little bit as of late and if that continues, this is likely going to be a low-scoring game. When factoring in the injuries, it just strengthens my feelings that the point total will be low.
College Football Week 13 Prediction: Boise State/Utah State Under 53
