The Odds

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Cardinal is a 10-point home favorite versus the Golden Bears after opening as a 12-point favorite. As for the total, it opened at 64.5 but has been bet down to 63.

The Records

Cal heads into play tonight with a 6-4 overall record and is 5-5 against the spread, which includes a 2-3 mark on the road. As for Stanford, it is 8-2 straight up and 7-3 at the betting window, including 4-1 against the number at home.

The Pick

Jared Goff needs to avoid turning the ball over like he did last Saturday in Cal's victory over Oregon State and the Golden Bears will stay within the 10 points. Stanford ranks fourth in the Pac-12 in run defense but Cal is 10th in the nation in passing yards per game (348.1) so the game plan wasn't going to be to run the ball anyway. With nothing to lose, look for the Golden Bears to play loose and cover the number. They're 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record.
