The Odds
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Buckeyes are 14.5-point home favorites over the Spartans after the line climbed from the opening number of 13. As for the total, it opened at 52.5 and that’s where the number currently sits.
The Records
The Spartans enter play with a 9-1 overall record and are 3-1 on the road this year, but they’re 3-7 against the spread and just 1-3 ATS away from East Lansing. For the Buckeyes, they’re 10-0 straight up and 6-0 at home, but they’re 4-6 at the betting window this season, which includes a 1-5 ATS record in Columbus.
The Pick
Connor Cook’s health is a big factor in this game but he’s expected to play after injuring his throwing shoulder last weekend. Cook has thrown for 2,482 yards with 21 touchdowns and just four interceptions this season so if MSU is going to pull off an upset, he needs to be on point. Even still, Ohio State has been rock solid defensively but inconsistent offensively in 2015. J.T. Barrett gives them a better shot of rolling today but the Spartans’ stout run defense can slow down Ezekiel Elliott and force an inefficient OSU passing game to beat them. With the line now up over the two-touchdown threshold, take the points in what should be a competitive game.
