Bruins end win streak
UCLA had been building up some momentum with a three-game win streak, but that came to a screeching halt last weekend in a 49-3 loss at Utah. The loss dropped UCLA to 4-6 on the season, 4-3 in the Pac-12, 4-5-1 against the spread and 5-4-1 with the under.
The Bruins have struggled all season on defense, allowing 33.7 points and 442 yards per game. Offensively, UCLA is putting up 26.7 points and 392.7 yards per contest. Dorian Thompson-Robinson is leading the offense with 2,056 passing yards and 17 touchdowns while also rushing for 168 yards and three scores. Joshua Kelley is the team’s leading rusher with 939 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Kyle Philips is the leading receiver with 43 catches for 490 yards and five touchdowns.
USC gets some road wins
The USC football team is coming off back-to-back road wins over Cal and Arizona State to win four of their last five games. The Trojans are now 7-4 on the season, 6-2 in the Pac-12, 5-5-1 against the spread and 6-5 with the over.
USC has been pretty effective on offense this season, averaging 31.5 points and 445.7 yards per game. Defensively, USC is giving up 27.1 points and 403.9 yards per contest. Kedon Slovis is leading the offense with 2,727 yards and 24 touchdowns passing, while Michael Pittman Jr. has 82 catches for 1,118 yards and nine touchdowns. Vavae Malepeai is the team’s leading rusher with 406 yards and four scores, but he has not been able to playing since Oct. 12 due to a knee injury. He could return this week.
College Football Betting Trends
UCLA
UCLA is 6-2-1 with the over in their last nine conference games, but 6-0 with the under in their last six after accumulating less than 100 rushing yards in their previous games.
USC
USC has hit the over in four straight conference games and in four of their last five games in November.
Prediction:
These two are 6-2-1 with the under in their last 10 encounters. Both teams have been offensively-led this season. USC has scored at least 31 points in four of their last five games and have had at least 24 points in six straight. I would expect a fair amount of points against this UCLA defense. The Bruins had been surging on offense prior to meeting up with Utah, scoring at least 31 in four straight. I expect the Bruins to return to that offensive form this week. The USC defense isn’t as good as Utah, so don’t look for them to be able to bottle up the Bruins.
