Penn State still in the mix
The Penn State Nittany Lions are still in the Big Ten chase and can go a long way to get the title with a win on Saturday. PSU is coming off a 34-27 win at home over Indiana last week to move to 9-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions are also 5-5 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total.
Penn State is led this season by its defense that is allowing just 13.5 points and 316.6 yards per game. Offensively, PSU is putting up 36.8 points and 428.4 yards per game. Sean Clifford has thrown for 2,450 yards and 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while also rushing for 374 yards and five scores. He could be without a key piece to the offense in KJ Hamler, who is questionable this week due to an upper body injury. Hamler has caught 46 passes for 791 yards and eight touchdowns and is also the team’s dynamic return man. Journey Brown leads Penn State on the ground with 521 yards and six touchdowns.
Ohio State staying dominant
Ohio State took the foot off the gas pedal a little last week in a 56-21 win over Rutgers. The Buckeyes were a 52-point favorite going in and failed to cover for just the second time this season. Ohio State is 10-0 overall, 7-0 in the Big Ten, 8-2 against the spread and 5-4 with the over.
The Buckeyes lead the nation in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The offense is putting up 51.5 points and 542.4 yards per game while the defense is allowing just 9.8 points and 216.8 yards per game. The defense gets stud defensive end Chase Young back this week after he sat out two games for a suspension. Young has 29 tackles with 13.5 sacks this season. J.K. Dobbins is leading the offense with 1,289 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns while Master Teague III has 744 rushing yards. Justin Fields has thrown for 2,164 yards and 31 touchdowns with just one interception, while also rushing for 377 yards and 10 scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Penn State
The Nittany Lions are 4-1 with the under in their last five road games and 7-3 with the under in their last 10 conference games.
Ohio State
The Buckeyes have hit the over in four straight games in November and in seven of their last 10 conference games.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in three of their last four encounters, but Ohio State hasn’t met a defense that has stopped it. Wisconsin gave up 38 to the Buckeyes a month ago and I think Wisconsin has a better defense than Penn State. The Nittany Lions have solid numbers from playing some pretty bad offensive teams this year. They agave up 31 to Minnesota and 27 last week to Indiana. I think Ohio State is going to score with relative will and push into the mid to high 40’s. The Buckeyes haven’t been about shutouts on defense either, so PSU should still find a few scores along the way to help the over hit.
