Texas vs. Iowa State Spread Prediction
The Texas Longhorns are laying a small number to the Iowa State Cyclones at 8:00 p.m. ET tonight in Austin. In one of the few games on the Week 12 college football slate that doesn’t feature a massive point spread, what’s the best play for bettors?

Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Longhorns are 2.5-point favorites to beat the Cyclones. The total, meanwhile, sits at 48 points. As of this writing, 58% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Longhorns.
Iowa State Cyclones
Iowa State freshman QB Brock Purdy completed 18-of-23 passes for 230 yards and one touchdown in Saturday’s 28-14 win over Baylor. Purdy (6’1/202) also ran for 56 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries to lead the Cyclones to another victory. The passing numbers (10.0 YPA) are impressive considering potential first-round wide receiver Hakeem Butler only accounted for 25 yards in this one. Iowa State has to love their outlook over the next couple seasons with Purdy, who is now 5-0 as the quarterback, shaping up as a true difference maker.
Texas Longhorns
Texas sophomore QB Sam Ehlinger threw for four touchdowns and 312 yards on 22-of-34 passing in a 41-34 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. Ehlinger has back-to-back 300-plus yard games, and he’s thrown for seven touchdowns while leading the Longhorns to two straight 40 point games. With few exceptions, Ehlinger was excellent on Saturday in the close win, and he threw the game-winning touchdown with just 21 seconds left to Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Ehlinger and the Longhorns will look to get another big win next Saturday against Iowa State.
Betting Trends
Iowa State
The Cyclones are 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
Texas
The Longhorns are 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.
Prediction
The Cyclones are 9-1-1 against the spread in their last 11 road games, are 24-7-1 against the number in their last 32 games overall, and are 21-6-1 at the betting window in their last 28 conference games. This Iowa State team under Matt Campbell has been a great play as an underdog so this is a value play for me despite ISU catching less than a field goal in a matchup that is even. Texas is just 2-6-1 against the spread in its last nine games played in November and 1-4 ATS in its last five games coming off a successful cover.
