Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Ohio State is favored on the road, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of -14.5 points against Maryland. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 58.5 points. The public betting for this game currently has 76 percent going on Ohio State on the road.
Maryland edged on the road
Maryland is coming off a 34-32 loss at Indiana last weekend, its third loss in four games. The Terrapins are now 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the Big Ten. Maryland is 5-5 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total. They have failed to cover in three of their last four as well.
The Terps have been pretty respectable on defense this season, allowing just 25.4 points and 343.2 yards per game. Their run defense has struggled, but their pass defense is giving up just 181.8 yards per contest. On offense, Maryland is putting up 28.8 points and 366.3 yards per game. They are largely reliant on the run game, which is putting up 234.9 yards per game. Anthony McFarland is the leading rusher with 724 yards and two scores while Ty Johnson has 506 yards and three scores. Johnson is dealing with a calf injury that has limited his play in recent weeks. Kasim Hill is the quarterback and has thrown or 1,083 yards and nine touchdowns.
Ohio State dominant at MSU
The Ohio State Buckeyes remain in the Big Ten title race thanks to a 26-6 win at Michigan State last weekend. The Buckeyes have won two straight to move to 9-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Big Ten. Ohio State is 4-6 against the spread and 6-4 with the under. The Buckeyes are just 1-5 ATS in their last six games.
Ohio State has a very dangerous offense. The Buckeyes are putting up 40.6 points and 527.2 yards per game this season, including 354 passing yards per game. Dwayne Haskins has thrown for 3,280 yards and 33 touchdowns with just six interceptions. J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber have combined for 1,423 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground while K.J. Hill has 57 catches for 733 yards and four scores. Defensively, Ohio State is allowing 22 points and 385 yards per game this season.
College Football Betting Trends
Maryland
Maryland is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games following a loss but just 1-5 ATS in their last six games in November.
Ohio State
Ohio State is just 1-5 against the spread in its last six conference games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games in November.
Prediction:
Ohio State was able to get back on track last week, but it took facing a Michigan State team that was playing a quarterback that couldn’t really throw the football. This week, the Terps have a capable offense that can run and throw. Ohio State only beat Nebraska at home by five two weeks ago and lost 49-20 at Purdue prior to that. The Buckeyes are not a complete team and not the Ohio State we are used to seeing. Their defense is still suspect and I can see Maryland putting up points in this game and making it more interesting than Ohio State would like.
