Florida St. vs. Syracuse Pick
Are oddsmakers expecting too much from No. 17 Florida State when it takes on Syracuse this Saturday at 3:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Florida State is favored on the road, as the Seminoles are getting odds of -21 points against the Orange. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 63 points. Florida State has won the last seven meetings with Syracuse and the two have hit the over in the last four meetings.
Florida State is now 7-3 on the season following a 45-7 win over Boston College last week. The Seminoles are 4-3 in the ACC and 5-4 with the over in 9 lined games. FSU is averaging 34.7 points and 465.1 yards per game on offense. The Seminoles have one of the best backs in the country in Dalvin Cook, who has run for 1,242 yards and 13 touchdowns. Deondre Francois has thrown for 2,675 yards and 15 touchdowns as well. Defensively, FSU is giving up 26.6 points and 384.6 yards per game.
Syracuse is coming off a 35-20 loss to N.C. State last week. The Orange are now 4-6 on the season and 2-4 in the ACC while going 8-2 with the under. They have hit the under in five straight games. The Syracuse defense is giving up 34.2 points and 471.5 yards per game this season, including nearly 200 rushing yards per game. On offense, Syracuse is putting up just 23.3 points per game despite averaging 438.9 yards per contest. Eric Dungey has thrown for 2,679 yards and 15 touchdowns this year, but he is listed as doubtful to play on Saturday due to a concussion. Amba Etta-Tawo has caught 79 passes for 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns. He ranks sixth in the country in receiving yards.
Florida State will put up a big number on Saturday as Cook should carve up this Syracuse defense. However, I expect the Orange to have some struggles against FSU, especially with Dungey unlikely to play. Etta-Tawo is a great player, but his numbers have dipped over the last month in ACC play. Look for that to continue against FSU.
