Wolverines looking for blood
Michigan is coming off a 38-7 win at Maryland two weeks ago for a second straight win. Since the second half of its game with Penn State, Michigan has outscored its opponents 104-21. The Wolverines are 7-2 on the season, 4-2 in the Big Ten, 5-4 against the spread and 6-3 with the over.
U-M has been led by its strong defense, as the Wolverines are giving up 17.1 points and 267.6 yards per contest. Josh Uche is leading the defense with 27 tackles and 7.5 sacks. Offensively, Michigan is putting up 31.8 points and 390.3 yards per contest. Shea Patterson has thrown for 1,773 yards and 12 touchdowns to lead the offense while Ronnie Bell is his leading receiver with 27 catches for 460 yards. Bell is questionable to play due to a lower body injury. Zach Charbonnet is the leading rusher with 559 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Spartans in a freefall
Michigan State is coming off a 37-34 loss at home to Illinois where the Spartans blew a 28-3 lead. MSU has now lost four straight to fall to 4-5 on the season and 2-4 in the Big Ten. The Spartans are 2-7 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
MSU has struggled on offense, putting up just 23.1 points and 367.2 yards per game this year. Defensively, Michigan State is allowing 23.6 points and 323.9 yards per contest. Brian Lewerke has thrown for 2,012 yards and 12 touchdowns this year while rushing for 265 yards and a score. Elijah Collins is the leading receiver with 715 yards and five touchdowns. Darrell Stewart Jr. is the leading receiver with 47 catches for 694 yards and four scores, but he is out with a leg injury.
College Football Betting Trends
Michigan
The Wolverines have hit the over in five of their last seven conference games and in 12 of their last 16 home games.
Michigan State
The Spartans are 6-1 with the under in their last seven road games and in 10 of their last 13 conference games.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in their last two meetings and this is typically a matchup of good defenses, but I look for the over to hit today. Michigan State’s defense hasn’t been looking solid for weeks. They have given up at least 28 in five straight games and at least 31 in four of those contests. Michigan has turned the corner offensively and will be at home against a team that seems to be unraveling. It’s an added bonus for them that it’s a hated rival. If Michigan can score 50 points today, the Wolverines are going to do everything they can to get it done. The Spartans will still probably add some points along the way to really cushion the total.
