Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Houston is favored at home, as the Cougars are getting odds of -10 points against Tulane. The over/under total for the contest is currently listed at 68 points. The public betting currently has 57 percent going on Houston at home.
Tulane on a win streak
Tulane has won three straight games coming into tonight’s contest, including a 24-18 win over ECU at home last week. The Green Wave are 5-5 overall and 4-2 in the AAC. They are also 5-5 against the spread and 8-2 with the under.
The Green Wave are putting up 26.2 points and 395.3 yards per game on offense this season. They have a strong run game, averaging 215.8 yards per contest on the ground. Darius Bradwell is leading the ground attack with 829 yards and eight touchdowns while Corey Dauphine has 689 yards and seven scores. Jonathan Banks has thrown for 1,074 yards and five scores, but he has missed the last two games with an undisclosed injury and is questionable for tonight as well. Justin McMillan will play if Banks can’t. McMillan has 721 yards with six touchdowns passing. Darnell Mooney is the leading receiver with 41 catches for 829 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, Tulane is allowing 25.8 points and 420.5 yards per game.
Cougars on a skid
Houston was having a strong year, but has suffered back-to-back double-digit losses to SMU and Temple over the last two weeks. The Cougars are now 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the AAC. Houston is 5-5 against the spread and 7-3 with the over. They have failed to cover in their last two games as well.
Houston has been putting up big numbers on offense this year, averaging 47.8 points and 546.1 yards per game. D’Eriq King has thrown for 2,900 yards and 35 touchdowns this year while also rushing for 592 yards and 13 scores. Marquez Stevenson is the leading receiver with 56 catches for 854 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, Houston is allowing 34.4 points and 489.8 yards per game. Their pass defense is giving up 314.1 yards per contest.
College Football Betting Trends
Tulane
Tulane is 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games on turf and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a winning team.
Houston
Houston is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games on turf and 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
Prediction:
Houston is going to score some points, it is just a matter of how well will its defense play. So far, it hasn’t been very good, very often. However, Tulane is dealing with some injuries on offense and the Green Wave are relying a lot on their defense to help them win. I don’t think there is a defense that can slow down Houston, at least in the AAC. Tulane can’t get into a shootout tonight, but I don’t think they can keep it from happening either. I like Houston to slowly pull away and cover the spread.
College Football Prediction: Houston -10
