Central Michigan has lost three straight coming into tonight to fall to 5-5 on the season and 2-4 in the MAC. The Chippewas are also 4-6 against the spread this season but just 1-6 ATS in their last seven games. CMU is putting up 28.4 points and 407.2 yards per game on offense thanks to a veteran QB in Cooper Rush. He has thrown for 2,775 yards and 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Corey Willis has been the leading receiver with 53 receptions for 790 yards and nine scores. Rush and CMU could be without leading rusher Devon Spalding, who is questionable with a shoulder injury. He has run for 652 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, CMU is allowing 29.3 points and 361.9 yards per game. They have struggled against the run, allowing 160.4 yards per contest.
Ohio is coming off a 34-10 win over Buffalo. The Bobcats have won three straight to move to 7-3 on the year and 5-1 in the MAC. Ohio is also 6-4 against the spread, going 4-2 ATS in MAC play. The Bobcats have an offense that is averaging 29.3 points and 419.7 yards per game. They have a great ground attack, averaging nearly 200 yards per game. Dorian Brown has 656 yards to lead the ground game while two others have over 350 yards. Ohio has used two quarterbacks this year, but been with Quinton Maxwell most recently. He has 875 passing yards and 103 rushing yards on the season. Defensively, Ohio is giving up just 23 points and 380.5 yards per game. Their main struggles come against the pass, allowing 265.7 yards per game.
Central Michigan is really struggling. While this is its final home game of the season, the Chippewas have been exposed in recent weeks for a poor offensive line and a defense that hasn’t maintained its early success. Ohio, on the other hand, seems to be surging and still making a push for a top MAC bowl game. Ohio’s ground game should be able to move effectively on CMU and their front line should be able to get to Rush often. Look for Ohio to win tonight.
