Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Mountaineers are 4.5-point favorites to beat the Cowboys. The total, meanwhile, sits at 73 points. As of this writing, 63% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Mountaineers.
West Virginia Mountaineers
West Virginia senior QB Will Grier completed 25-of-39 passes for 343 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Saturday’s 47-10 win over TCU. Grier and the Mountaineers were shut out in the first quarter — first time all season that has happened — but they wouldn’t be shut out for long. WVU would score 24 points in the next stanza and would not look back from that point on. The senior signal-caller finished up tossing touchdown passes in each of the final three quarters. With that trio of touchdown passes, Grier pushed his season-long tally up to 31 scoring tosses. We cannot wait to see WVU take on Oklahoma State and (especially) Oklahoma over the next two weekends.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Oklahoma State redshirt senior QB Taylor Cornelius completed 34-of-53 passes for 501 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday’s 48-47 loss to Oklahoma. This year’s incarnation of Bedlam more than lived up to the name, as the two teams combined for an absurd 1,342 yards of total offense. Cornelius and company took every one of Oklahoma’s punches and kept on ticking, with the game ultimately coming down to a two-point conversion attempt following the redshirt senior’s clutch fourth-down scoring toss to Tylan Wallace with just over a minute remaining in the fourth quarter. That drew the Cowboys to within one point. We loved the call to go for the win, there, and Cornelius looked to have Wallace open in the flat on the two-point try. Alas, he misfired there to essentially end the game. Oklahoma State dropped to 5-5 with the loss. They will need to beat one of West Virginia or TCU over the next two weeks if they are to achieve bowl eligibility.
