Ohio State beats down Maryland
Ohio State continued its 2019 beatdown tour last weekend with a 73-14 victory over Maryland at home. The Buckeyes are now 9-0 on the season, 6-0 in the Big Ten, 8-1 against the spread and 4-4-1 with the over/under total.
The Buckeyes have the nation’s top defense, allowing just 8.6 points and 215.2 yards per contest. The Ohio State defense continues to be without its top player in Chase Young, who has 13.5 sacks this year. Young is dealing with a suspension right now for taking a loan. Offensively, Ohio State is putting up 51 points and 536.2 yards per game. The Buckeyes lead the nation in scoring while ranking third in rushing with 295.6 yards per game. J.K. Dobbins is leading the ground attack with 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns. Master Teague III is adding 699 yards and four scores while Justin Fields has rushed for 347 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fields has also thrown for 1,859 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Rutgers struggling for points
Rutgers is coming off a 38-10 loss at Illinois last weekend. The Knights have scored 10 points or less in every Big Ten game this year. The Knights are just 2-7 on the season, 0-6 in the Big Ten, 2-7 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
The Knights are among the worst nationally in both offense and defense. Rutgers is giving up 36.7 points and 430.7 yards per game on defense, while the offense is putting up just 14.7 points and 280.6 yards per contest. Isaih Pacheco is leading the offense with 541 rushing yards and six touchdowns, but he is listed as questionable for this game with a foot injury. Freshman Johnny Langan has thrown for 498 yards and three touchdowns, but has six interceptions. Bo Melton is the leading receiver with 23 catches for 312 yards and a score.
College Football Betting Trends
Ohio State
The Buckeyes have hit the over in 10 of their last 14 road games and in 10 of their last 14 games in November.
Rutgers
The Scarlet Knights are 9-3 with the under in their last 12 conference games and in four of their last five games in November.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in three of their last four meetings. The big question for this total is can Ohio State score 62 points? While The Buckeyes have given up at least 7 points in six games this year, I think they will likely shutout this Rutgers offense. The Knights are putrid and Ohio State’s backups could dominate this game. Ohio State’s offense will score at will, but will the Buckeyes eventually show mercy and not let the score get too out of control. They put up 73 on Maryland last week, but it seems there was some added motivation there. I could see 58-3 in this game, but that would hit the under.
College Football Week 12 Prediction: Ohio State/Rutgers Under 61.5
