Bulldogs on fire
Since a loss to Texas in the season opener, Louisiana Tech has rattled off eight straight victories. That includes a 52-17 win over North Texas last weekend. The Bulldogs are now 8-1 overall, 5-0 in Conference USA, 6-3 against the spread and 5-4 with the over.
Tech has been one of the stronger offenses in the nation this season, averaging 38.1 points and 479.1 yards per game. Defensively, Louisiana Tech is giving up 22.9 points and 395 yards per outing. Quarterback J’Mar Smith has thrown for 2,483 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 226 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Henderson is the team’s leading rusher with 712 yards and 14 touchdowns while three different receivers have over 450 receiving yards this year.
Marshall trying to stay in first
Marshall has won four straight, including a 20-7 win at Rice two weeks ago, to improve to 6-3 on the season. The Thundering Herd are 4-1 in CUSA, a ½ game back of FAU. However, the Herd hold the tiebreaker due to a 36-31 win at FAU on Oct. 18. Marshall is 6-3 on the season, 3-6 against the spread and 6-3 with the over.
Marshall has been average on both sides of the ball. The defense gives up just 24 points and 371.1 yards per game while the offense is averaging 26.2 points and 426 yards per outing. Isaiah Green is leading the team with 1,876 passing yards and 12 touchdowns while rushing for 242 yards and two scores. Brenden Knox is the leading rusher with 933 yards and eight touchdowns. Armani Levias is the team’s top receiver with 39 catches for 442 yards and three scores. Darius Hodge is leading the defense with 25 tackles and seven sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Louisiana Tech
The Bulldogs have hit the under in six straight games in November and in seven of their last nine on the road.
Marshall
The Thundering Herd have hit the over in five straight home games and in six straight games following a bye.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met since 2014 and that was a 26-23 win for Marshall at home. Tech has rarely found its match on defense this year. They have scored at least 42 points in four straight and at least 35 in six of their last seven games. Marshall has already given up 31 to FAU, 31 to Ohio and 52 to Cincinnati. I think the Bulldogs should continue to score points, even on the road. Marshall also should have success on offense. They have put up at least 26 in three of their last four home games. The Bulldogs aren’t bad on defense, but their pace of play on offense leads to giving up points on defense.
College Football Week 12 Prediction: Louisiana Tech/Marshall Over 56.5
