Indiana cracks the rankings
Indiana is on a four-game winning streak to crack the top 25 rankings. The Hoosiers are coming off a 34-3 win at home over Northwestern two weeks ago. They are now 7-2 on the season, 4-2 in the Big Ten, 6-3 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
The Hoosiers have actually been pretty strong on both sides of the ball this year. Indiana is giving up just 20 points and 310.6 yards per game on defense, while the offense is putting up 34 points and 447 yards per game. Peyton Ramsey has filled in at QB for the injured Michael Penix Jr. and has thrown for 1,302 yards and nine touchdowns this year. Stevie Scott III is the team’s leading rusher with 737 yards and nine scores. Whop Philyor is the team’s leading receiver with 59 catches for 813 yards and three touchdowns.
Penn State takes first loss
The Nittany Lions took their first loss of the season last weekend at Minnesota, 31-26. The loss moves Penn State to 8-1 on the season and 5-1 in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions are 5-4 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
Despite giving up 31 last week, Penn State’s defense has been one of the best in the nation this year. PSU is giving up just 12 points and 300.4 yards per game. On offense, Penn State is averaging 37.1 points and 434.8 yards per contest. Sean Clifford is leading the team with 2,271 passing yards and 21 touchdowns while also rushing for 319 yards and three scores. KJ Hamler is the leading receiver with 44 catches for 739 yards and eight touchdowns. Journey Brown is the leading rusher with 421 yards and five touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Indiana
The Hoosiers have hit the over in five of their last seven road games and in nine of their last 13 Big Ten games.
Penn State
The Nittany Lions have hit the under in seven of their last nine conference games and in five straight following a failed cover.
Prediction:
These two have split the over/under in their last six meetings, but have hit the under in the last two encounters at Penn State. Indiana is having a nice run as of late, but the Hoosiers have played some of the worst teams in the Big Ten. Their only test against a top team was a 51-10 loss at home to Ohio State. I think they are going to struggle on the road against this Penn State defense. PSU will be upset after taking a loss at Minnesota and be out to make a statement. PSU could put up some points in this one, but I don’t see it being able to carry the point total enough to hit the over.
College Football Week 12 Prediction: Indiana/Penn State Under 51
