Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M Prediction

Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M College Football Week 11 Predictions 11/12/16

In a matchup of backup quarterbacks, who will cover tonight when Texas A&M hosts Ole Miss at 7:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Aggies are 10.5-point home favorites versus the Rebels while the over/under currently sits at 58 points. A&M opened as a 20-point favorite when it was announced that Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, but once Aggies' signal-caller Trevor Knight (shoulder) was also ruled out for the year, the spread plummeted.

OLE MISS KEY TRENDS: The Rebels are just 1-6 at the betting window in their last seven road games and have gone winless against the spread in their last four games overall. Those four ATS losses included an outright defeat at Arkansas as a 10-point favorite, another outright loss to LSU as an 8.5-point road underdog, an 11-point home loss as a 4-point dog versus Auburn, and in a 37-27 win over Georgia Southern last Saturday as a 28-point favorite.

TEXAS A&M KEY TRENDS: The Aggies are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games as a favorite following their upset loss at Mississippi State last week. They've also been a poor home bet, failing to cover in 13 of their last 19 games in College Station. Kevin Sumlin's team is winless at 0-5 against the spread in its last five games overall and 1-5 ATS in its last six games as a favorite of 10.5 points or more.

OUR PREDICTION: The Aggies might not be as limited as the Rebels are offensively. That's because freshman Jason Pellerin will start in place of Kelly after going 1-of-5 for 19 yards and an interception in relief of Kelly last week. Rebels coach Huge Freeze already admitted that he'll need to limit how many plays his quarterback will be asked to run this week, whereas Jake Hubenak will be asked to run a similar offense as night. Hubenak, a junior, completed 11-of-17 passes for 222 yards with two touchdowns and one interception against Mississippi State. With both teams banged up at the most important position on the field, I'll go with the experience of Hubenak at home over a freshman signal-caller making his first road start.
