Pittsburgh vs. Clemson Prediction
Is No. 2 Clemson in danger of a letdown performance when it plays host to Pittsburgh today at 3:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Clemson is favored at home, as the Tigers are getting odds of -20.5 points against Pittsburgh. The over/under total for the contest has been listed at 65.5 points. These two have no recent meetings to consider for this wager.
Clemson is now off to a 9-0 start following a 54-0 win over Syracuse last week. The Tigers are 6-0 in the ACC and 5-4 against the spread. Clemson’s defense has been strong all year, holding opponents to an average of just 15.7 points and 312.9 yards per game, including just 180.1 passing yards per contest. As the defense has been solid, the offense seems to be getting stronger. The Tigers have scored at least 37 points in four of their last five and are now averaging 38.6 points and 488.4 yards per game as a unit. Deshaun Watson has thrown for 2,497 yards and 24 touchdowns this season while rushing for 370 yards. Wayne Gallman has run for 634 yards and eight scores while Mike Williams caught 52 passes for 754 yards and five scores.
Pittsburgh has lost two straight to fall to 5-4 on the season and 2-3 in the ACC. The Panthers are also just 3-6 against the spread this year. The Pitt defense has been struggling all year, averaging 34.4 points and 428.7 yards allowed per game. They are giving up 317.1 passing yards per game as well. On offense, Pitt can be tough, as it is putting up 37 points and 422.3 yards per game through a balanced attack. Nathan Peterman has thrown for 1,806 yards and 14 touchdowns while James Conner has run for 712 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Pittsburgh can be tough to stop but the Panthers may be facing the toughest defense they have seen yet, which is likely to lead to some stumbling. However, Clemson is going to be able to move the ball on this sieve of a defense. Watson should be able to air the ball out early and often on this Pitt secondary. Look for the Tigers to get enough defensive stops to cover at home.
