Georgia Tech looking for three straight
Georgia Tech is coming off back-to-back wins at Virginia Tech and North Carolina the last two weeks and the Yellow Jackets have won four of their last five overall. Tech is now 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the ACC while posing a 4-5 mark against the spread and a 5-3-1 mark with the over. They have also covered in four of their last five.
The Yellow Jackets are really rolling on offense right now, as they are averaging 38.8 points and 467.1 yards per game behind their dominant option-run attack. As a team, Tech averages 377 rushing yards per game. Tobias Oliver has lead the way with 780 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns while TaQuon Marshall has 659 rushing yards and nine scores. Marshall has also thrown for 645 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Tech is holding opponents to 28.2 points and 362.7 yards per game.
Miami drops three straight
At one point, Miami sat at 5-1 and looked to be turning the corner, but the Hurricanes have lost three straight since, including a 20-12 loss at home to Duke last week. The Canes are now 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the ACC. Miami is just 3-6 against the spread and 5-4 with the over. The Canes have failed to cover the spread in their last four.
The Canes are pretty stingy on defense this year, allowing 19.3 points and 264.7 yards per game. Their pass defense has given up just 141.1 yards per game, but their run defense will be tested this week. Offensively, Miami is scoring 32 points and 390.2 yards per game, but they have been held to 14 or less in three straight. Miami has been using two quarterbacks in Malik Rosier and N’Kosi Perry, but neither has really excelled. They have combined for 1,708 passing yards and 17 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Travis Homer is leading the offense with 702 rushing yards and two scores while DeeJay Davis has added 547 rushing yards and four scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games on grass and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.
Miami
Miami is 1-6 against the spread in their last seven road games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games on grass.
Prediction:
Tech is playing really well right now and they are beating up on some poor teams, but still have gone on the road for their last three wins. They return home to take on Miami, who has been beat up the last three weeks by physical defenses like Virginia, BC and Duke. I think Tech will be able to take advantage of that. The Jackets want to power past the Canes with their run game and Miami should be less than 100 percent up front. That opens to door for ball control for Tech and I think it leads to a win and cover. Miami hasn’t proven it’s offense can match what Georgia Tech is likely to produce.
