N.C. State falling behind
N.C. State is coming off a 44-10 loss at Wake Forest last week for a second straight loss and third loss in four games. The Wolfpack are now 4-4 on the season, 1-3 in the ACC, 2-6 against the spread and 6-2 with the under.
The Wolfpack are giving up just 25.4 points and 362.1 yards per game on defense this year. Offensively, N.C. State is putting up 24.9 points and 396 yards per contest. Devin Leary has been given the ball the last few games at QB. He has thrown for 485 yards and four touchdowns this season. Zonovan Knight is the leading rusher with just 389 yards and three scores, but is questionable for tonight’s game with an undisclosed injury. Emeka Emezie is the leading receiver with 39 catches for 410 yards and a score. Larrell Murchison is leading the defense with 34 tackles and seven sacks.
Tigers with plenty of motivation
Clemson finds itself on the outside-looking-in for the first CFP Playoff poll, as the Tigers were No. 5 this week. Clemson is 9-0 on the year and 6-0 in the ACC following a 59-14 win over Wofford last weekend. The Tigers are 6-3 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
The Tigers are a top-five team nationally in total offense and total defense this year. Clemson is giving up just 11.7 points and 247.2 yards per game this year on defense. Offensively, Clemson is averaging 44.2 points and 545.4 yards per contest. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 2,027 yards and 20 touchdowns this season to lead the offense. Travis Etienne is one of the top rushers in the nation. He has put up 1,102 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Tee Higgins is the team’s leading receiver with 32 catches for 662 yards and four scores. Isaiah Simmons is leading the Clemson defense with 66 tackles and five sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
N.C. State
The Wolfpack are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six against a winning team and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games in November.
Clemson
The Tigers are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine road games and 14-3 ATS in their last 17 ACC games.
Prediction:
Clemson has won seven straight against N.C. State, covering the spread in three of the last five meetings. I normally wouldn’t like this spread for the Tigers on the road, but I think they will be plenty fired up to make a statement today after being left out of the top four of the first playoff rankings. Clemson’s defense has been able to lock up pretty much everyone and N.C. State should be no different. The N.C. State offense has given up 89 points over their last two games against teams that don’t have the firepower that Clemson has. I like the Tigers to win big tonight.
