Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Cyclones are 14.5-point favorites to beat the Bears. The total, meanwhile, sits at 51 points. As of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Cyclones.
Baylor sophomore QB Charlie Brewer (concussion) went 4-of-8 for 56 yards and two touchdowns off the bench in Saturday's 35-31 come-from-behind win over Oklahoma State. Brewer cleared out of the concussion protocol late in the week and was cleared to play but curiously didn't start. Instead, redshirt junior QB Jalan McClendon got the call for his first career start -- and struggled mightily, including a brutal interception into the end zone in the first quarter. HC Matt Rhule pulled the plug on McClendon late in the third quarter and inserted Brewer, and the offense immediately started clicking. Brewer's eight-yard TD pass to Denzel Mims to take a 35-31 lead with :07 left will go down as perhaps the most memorable play of Baylor's season.
Iowa State Cyclones
Iowa State freshman QB Brock Purdy completed 16-of-22 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 27 yards in Saturday's 27-3 win over Kansas. Purdy's best friend was freakazoid WR Hakeem Butler, who made a few ridiculous plays en route to a 5-164-2 line. The Cyclones are now bowl eligible at 6-3. They'll look to stay in the Big 12 title game hunt next week against Baylor.
The under is 13-5 in the Bears’ last 18 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
The under is 9-1 in the Cyclones’ last 10 games following a straight-up victory.
The under is 4-1 in the Bears’ last five games played in November and cashed in seven of the last 10 road games versus a team with a winning home record. On the other side, the under is also 12-4 in the Cyclones’ last 16 games overall, is 9-4 in their last 13 conference games and is 12-2 in their last 14 games coming off an ATS win.
