Auburn Tigers Game Notes
Auburn sophomore QB Bo Nix completed 22-of-30 passes for 276 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, and also ran eight times for 30 yards and two touchdowns in Auburns 31-20 win over Ole Miss. Nix (6’3″/214) was extremely solid in a game where Auburn’s defense and run game really carried most of the load. Nix played within himself, didn’t make any mistakes or take any unnecessary risks and did a fantastic job taking what the defense was giving him. His mobility was the standout once again, as he showed great escapability in the face of pressure. He also exploited holes in the defense, taking Auburns first score in himself on a scramble, and he punched in another one on a perfectly executed read-option in the second quarter. Nix made some nice throws here and there, but kept things fairly safe through the air for the most part. He did what he had to do, and it was overall one of his better performances this year. Nix and the Tigers have a chance at another ranked upset when they take on Texas A&M next week.
Texas A&M Aggies Game Notes
Texas A&M sophomore RB Isaiah Spiller ushed 18 times for 102 yards and a touchdown in a 44-14 win against South Carolina on Saturday. This now gives Spiller (6’1″/225) over 100 yards in back-to-back games and a touchdown in three straight. The Aggies have a spoil of riches in the backfield. This wasn’t even the best performance for a Texas A&M running back this week. Devon Achane out-gained Spiller with 154 rushing yards. A&M has a shot at winning the SEC West. They are just a game behind Auburn and Mississippi, who they both play in the next two games. If they win out and Alabama loses, they would own the tiebreaker and play in the SEC title game.
