Wake Forest in a funk

Wake Forest is coming off a 41-24 loss this weekend at home to Syracuse and the Demon Deacons have lost three of their last four. Wake is 4-5 overall, 1-4 in the ACC, 2-7 against the spread and 6-3 with the over. They have hit the under in two of their last three games.

The Demon Deacons have really struggled on defense, allowing 37.2 points and 493.6 yards per game. Their run defense is allowing 221 yards per contest. Offensively, Wake is putting up 32.3 points and 453.4 yards per contest. Wake took a big loss last week as quarterback Sam Hartman suffered a broken foot and will miss the rest of the season. He had thrown for 1,984 yards and 16 touchdowns while rushing for 275 yards and two scores. It’s unclear who will start at QB for Wake due to other lingering injuries to their other quarterbacks. Wake is led by its ground attack with Matt Colburn rushing for 670 yards and Cade Carney putting up 601 yards. Greg Dortch is the leading receiver with 69 catches for 846 yards and six touchdowns.

N.C. State gets back on track

N.C. State ended a two-game losing streak this past Saturday with a 47-28 win at home over Florida State. The Wolfpack are now 6-2 overall, 3-2 in the ACC, 4-4 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total. N.C. State has hit the over in two straight games.

The Wolfpack have been strong defensively this year, allowing 25.5 points and 398 yards per game. Their run defense is giving up just 91.6 yards per game, but their pass defense is allowing over 300 yards per contest. Offensively, N.C. State is putting up 32.5 points and 457 yards per contest. Ryan Finley has thrown for 2,490 yards and 16 touchdowns with six interceptions to lead the offense while Reggie Gallaspy II has rushed for 554 yards and nine touchdowns. Kelvin Harmon is the leading receiver with 50 catches for 831 yards and five touchdowns.

College Football Betting Trends

Wake Forest

Wake Forest has hit the over in seven of its last eight games following a loss and in five of its last six against a winning team.

N.C. State

The Wolfpack are 17-1-1 with the under in their last 19 Thursday games and 14-4 with the under in their last 18 conference games.

Prediction:

The total is being set very high and the teams have the capability to score, but the QB situation for Wake Forest will likely lead to some problems for the Demon Deacons. N.C. State can stop the box to try and stop the run game until their QB can prove he can throw the ball. N.C. State should move the ball well, but not at a pace enough to help these two get to 70 points.
