Kent State ends skid
The Kent State football team saw its six-game losing streak come to an end last week in a 35-28 win at Bowling Green. The Golden Flashes are now 2-7 overall, 1-4 in the MAC, 6-3 against the spread and 6-3 with the under. Kent has covered the spread in three of its last four games.
Kent State has struggled a great deal on defense this year, allowing 34.2 points and 470.7 yards per game. The Golden Flashes have struggled to stop the run and the pass. Offensively, Kent State is putting up 24.3 points and 392.8 yards per game. Quarterback Woody Barrett has thrown for 1,905 yards and 10 touchdowns this season to go along with eight interceptions. Barrett also has 455 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Justin Rankin is the leading rusher on the team with 560 yards and four scores. Rankin has been going through concussion protocol, but is expected to play tonight.
Buffalo on a roll
Buffalo comes into tonight on a four-game win streak following a 51-42 win over Miami-Ohio last week. The Bulls are 8-1 overall, 5-0 in the MAC, 7-2 against the spread and 6-3 with over. Buffalo has also covered the spread in four straight games.
The Bulls are rolling on offense right now, averaging 34.9 points and 421.7 yards per game. Buffalo is led by quarterback Tyree Jackson, who has thrown for 2,227 yards and 23 touchdowns with eight interceptions. Kevin Marks and Jaret Patterson have combined for 1,155 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. K.J. Osborn is the team’s leading receiver with 44 catches for 730 yards and six scores. College Football Betting Trends
Kent State
Kent State is 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games in November and just 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a winning record.
Buffalo
Buffalo has covered the spread in six straight MAC games and in four straight against a losing team.
Prediction:
Buffalo is playing at a high level and the Bulls are on parade toward a spot in the MAC Championship. Kent State isn’t talented enough to compete with Buffalo on either side of the ball and I don’t think Buffalo will be overlooking Kent State. The Bulls get to be on display on national television, so this is a big opportunity for their featured players to help further their NFL aspirations. I expect Buffalo to come out strong from the start and dominate play.
