Broncos coming off big win

Western Michigan is trying to stay in the mix for the MAC title on Tuesday night. The Broncos are coming off a 49-10 win over Bowling Green on Oct. 26 to improve to 5-4 on the season and 3-2 in the MAC. They are ½ a game behind Ball State in the West. The Broncos are 5-4 against the spread and 6-2-1 with the under this year.

The Broncos are playing well on offense this year, averaging 36 points and 461.8 yards per game. Defensively, Western Michigan is giving up 25.8 points and 430.6 yards per contest. LeVante Bellamy is leading the offense with 1,055 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns while Jon Wassink has thrown for 2,273 yards and 16 touchdowns with seven interceptions. Tight end Giovanni Ricci is the leading receiver with 40 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns. Treshaun Hayward is leading the defense with 106 tackles and five sacks.

Ball State takes first MAC loss

The Ball State Cardinals are coming off a 34-21 loss at home to Ohio on Oct. 26 for their first MAC loss. Ball State is now 4-4 on the season, 3-1 in the MAC, 5-3 against the spread and 5-3 with the under.

Ball State has been pretty competitive offensively this year, averaging 33 points and 442.2 yards per game. Defensively, the Cardinals are giving up 28.6 points and 401.6 yards per game this season. Drew Plitt is leading the Ball State offense with 1,977 passing yards and 17 touchdowns and six interceptions. Caleb Huntley is the leading rusher with 723 yards and five touchdowns while Riley Miller is the leading receiver with 32 receptions for 457 yards and five scores.

College Football Betting Trends

Western Michigan

Western Michigan has covered the spread in six straight home games, but are 0-6 ATS in their last six after a win.

Ball State

The Cardinals have covered the spread in four straight against winning teams, but are just 10-21 ATS in their last 31 conference games.

Ball State won last year’s meeting at home in OT, but Western Michigan has won and covered the spread in four straight meetings prior to that. On paper, Ball State looks to be the better team. However, home games mean a lot in the MAC. Teams struggle to go on the road and win consistently. Western has covered the spread in six straight at home as well, so I like the Broncos to ride that wave of momentum and pick up a key win and cover tonight.
