Wisconsin vs. Northwestern Prediction
Will Northwestern be able to cover the spread once again when it hosts No. 8 Wisconsin today at Noon ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Wisconsin is favored on the road in this game, as the Badgers are getting odds of -6.5 points against the Wildcats. The over/under total for the contest has been set at just 41 points. Northwestern has won two straight over Wisconsin, covering the spread as an underdog in both cases.

Wisconsin picked up a hard-fought win over Nebraska in OT last week, 23-17. The Badgers have had their last four games decided by 8 points or less as they are now 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten. Wisconsin is now 6-2 against the spread on the year as well. Wisconsin has a defense that has been tough to move the ball on, as the Badgers are giving up just 14.6 points and 301.1 yards per game, including only 192 passing yards per contest. Offensively, Wisconsin has struggled, putting up just 24.1 points and 376.4 yards per game. Leading the offense has been Corey Clement, who has run for 699 yards and six touchdowns. Alex Hornibrook and Bart Houston have combined for 1,577 passing yards and 9 touchdowns this season, but they also have 10 interceptions. Hornibrook has been taking the majority of snaps in games, but Wisconsin doesn’t seem set on leaving him as the sole quarterback.
Bet on Wisconsin vs. Northwestern
Northwestern is coming off a 24-20 loss at Ohio State last week to fall to 4-4 on the season and 3-2 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats are also 5-3 against the spread, covering in four straight. Their offense isn’t putting up big numbers this year, posting just 25.1 points and 382 yards per contest. Clayton Thorson has thrown for 1,942 yards and 15 touchdowns this year, connecting with Austin Carr for 58 receptions and 878 yards in the process. Northwestern has really been playing well in the last month and I suspect they will be up to the challenge at home against the Badgers. Northwestern has the ability to keep Wisconsin from doing much on offense, as the Badgers haven’t proven a consistency to score. While the Badgers pose a challenge to the Northwestern offense, the Wildcats have shown a new level of physicality and ability to run the ball in Big Ten play. Of Wisconsin’s six wins, only two have been by more than 8 points. Look for this game to remain close.
