According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Purdue is the slight favorite at home, as the Boilermakers are favored by 2.5 points against Iowa. The over/under total for the contest is currently listed at 51 points. The public betting for this game currently has 62 percent going on Iowa on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our College Football Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Purdue falls on the road
Purdue had its four-game win streak come to an end last weekend at Michigan State, losing 23-13. The Boilermakers are now 4-4 on the season, 3-2 in the Big Ten, 5-3 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total.
The Boilermakers have been pretty steady on offense, averaging 32.9 points and 492.4 yards per game. Their passing attack is putting up 330 yards per contest. David Blough has thrown for 2,350 yards and 13 touchdowns with five interceptions while Rondale Moore has caught 68 passes for 802 yards and seven touchdowns. D.J. Knox is the leading rusher with 719 yards and eight scores. Defensively, Purdue is giving up 22.8 points and 432.3 yards per contest, including 300 passing yards per game.
Iowa coming off loss
The Iowa Hawkeyes are coming off a 30-24 loss at Penn State last weekend to put an end to a 3-game win streak. Iowa is now 6-2 on the season, 3-2 in the Big Ten, 6-2 against the spread and 5-3 with the over. They have hit the over in five of their last six games.
The Hawkeyes are strong on defense, allowing 16.1 points and 264.9 yards per game. Offensively, Iowa is putting up 29.8 points and 391.4 yards per contest. Nate Stanley has thrown for 1,764 yards and 16 touchdowns this year, but also has eight interceptions. T.J. Hockenson has caught 28 passes for 487 yards and three scores. Toren Young is the leading rusher with 421 yards and two touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Purdue
Purdue is 6-1 with the under in its last seven following a loss and 4-1 with the under in its last five games in November.
Iowa
Iowa has hit the over in six straight road games and in five of its last six in the Big Ten.
Prediction:
Iowa has to feel like its defense let it down last week at Penn State, giving up 30 points. I would expect the Hawkeyes to look better on that side of the ball today against Purdue. While the Boilermakers have big-play potential on offense, they still have some question marks when it comes to physicality up front. I don’t see Iowa putting up a huge number on offense either today. The Hawkeyes are more of a ball control team if they can help it. While the total seems a bit low, I think the under will hit here as both teams find inconsistency on offense.
