Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, Boise State is favored on the road, as the Broncos are getting odds of -17 points against San Jose State. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 59.5 points. The public betting currently has 55 percent going on Boise State as the road favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

San Jose State struggling

The San Jose State football team has struggled to get on any kind of major win streak. They haven’t won back to back games this year, but are still 4-4 after a 34-29 win at Army last week. The Spartans are 1-3 in the Mountain West, 4-3-1 against the spread and 5-3 with the under.

San Jose State doesn’t have much going on offense or defense this year. The defense is giving up 29.4 points and 444.1 yards per game. The offense is averaging 28.4 points and 396.9 yards per contest. Josh Love has thrown for 2,355 yards and 15 touchdowns to lead the offense this year. Tre Walker is the leading receiver with 40 catches for 565 yards and a touchdown while DeJon Parker is the leading rusher with 256 yards and five touchdowns.

Broncos upset by BYU

Boise State is coming off its first loss of the season, two weeks ago at BYU, 28-25. That drops the Broncos to 6-1 on the season, 3-0 in the Mountain West, 4-2-1 against the spread and 4-3 with the over.

The Broncos have good numbers on offense and defense this year, as the offense is putting up 35.3 points and 469.7 yards per game, while the defense is allowing 20.7 points and 331.1 yards per contest. Hank Bachmeier has thrown for 1,547 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the offense, but he missed the last game with a hip injury. If he is unable to play, Chase Cord will get the start. Cord has thrown for 480 yards and eight touchdowns this year. John Hightower has caught 26 passes for 455 yards and five touchdowns while George Holani has rushed for 463 yards and a score. The defense is led by Curtis Weaver, who has 31 tackles with 9.5 sacks.

College Football Betting Trends

San Jose State

The Spartans are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games in November and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six conference games.

Boise State

The Broncos are 6-1-2 against the spread in their last nine conference games and 10-4-2 ATS in their last 16 road games.

Boise State has owned this series and covered the spread in five of the last six in the series, including three straight trips at San Jose State. The Broncos are coming off a loss and then a bye week and should be well-rested. Bachmeier returning should give Boise State a boost on offense, especially against this poor San Jose State defense. Boise hasn’t been great at pulling away from opponents, but I think they can do enough to earn a 17+-point win today. Their defense will lock up the Spartans and their offense should run over the San Jose State defensive front.
