SMU still undefeated

The SMU Mustangs are still unbeaten following a 34-31 win at Houston last week. SMU is now 8-0 on the season with a 4-0 mark in the AAC. The Mustangs are 6-2 against the spread and 7-1 with the over.

SMU has been one of the top offenses in the nation this season, averaging 43 points and 504.1 yards per game. The defense is giving up 27.8 points and 387.5 yards per contest. Shane Buechele has thrown for 2,325 yards and 20 touchdowns with seven interceptions to lead this offense while Xavier Jones has rushed for 884 yards and 14 scores. Reggie Roberson Jr. and James Proche have combined for 104 receptions for 1,495 yards and 15 touchdowns. Roberson is questionable to play on Saturday with a foot injury. The SMU defense is led by Rodney Clemons, who has 40 tackles and four interceptions.

Memphis with just one loss

The Memphis Tigers have just one loss this season, which came at Temple by two points nearly a month ago. Since then, they have won back-to-back games, including a 42-41 win at Tulsa last weekend. Memphis is now 7-1 on the season, 3-1 in the AAC, 5-3 against the spread and 6-2 with the over.

Memphis is putting up 39.5 points and 470.6 yards per game on offense this season while the defense is allowing 23 points and 375 yards per contest. Leading the offense is Kenneth Gainwell, who has rushed for 979 yards and 11 touchdowns. Brady White has thrown for 2,161 yards and 20 touchdowns with just four interceptions, while Damonte Coxie caught 37 passes for 529 yards and three scores.

College Football Betting Trends

The Mustangs have hit the over in five straight games on fieldturf and in six of their last seven following a win.

The Tigers have hit the over in six straight conference games and in 16 of their last 21 against a winning team.

Memphis has won five straight in this series and the two have hit the under in three of their last four encounters. Their last meeting at Memphis put up 111 points. These two can both put up points, but asking them to put up 72 may be a lot to ask, especially with this being such a high-profile game. This is the biggest spot both of these teams have been in in a while. College Gameday is coming to town and it’s a primetime game on ABC. I think nerves may play a factor in this game and you see both offenses being a little too juiced, which will impact their ability to hit the over in this one.
