Texas Tech Red Raiders Game Notes
Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells was fired after two and a half seasons in charge. Wells went 13-17 as a head coach for the Red Raiders. This was shaping up to be the best season for Wells, as he went 4-8 in year one, 4-6 in year two and had Texas Tech with a decent record of 5-3 this year with wins over Houston, West Virginia and Kansas. A second half collapse against Kansas States seems to have been the nail in his coffin. Offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie takes over as the interim head coach.
Oklahoma Sooners Game Notes
Oklahoma freshman QB Caleb Williams moves up again in the odds to win the Heisman Trophy according to PointsBet. Despite now having his best game, Williams’ (6’1″/218) stock continues to trend upward. He only had 178 passing yards, but with two touchdowns against Kansas, he was able to keep the Sooners undefeated. Since taking over for Spencer Rattler he’s gone from +12500 odds to win the Heisman down to +1400. He now has the fifth-best odds behind Bryce Young, Matt Corral, C.J. Stroud and Kenny Pickett. Most importantly, he has Oklahoma in the driver seat for a Big 12 title and a trip to the College Football Playoffs. They will host Texas Tech next Saturday.
