Illinois Fighting Illini Game Notes
Chase Brown had 41 rushes for 180 yards and gathered in all three targets for 53 yards and one touchdown during Saturday’s 26-14 victory against Minnesota. Brown totaled a career-high 44 touches and his highest total yardage of the season as he once again served as the focal point of Illinois’ offense. The 205-pound back also caught a game-long 40-yard receiving touchdown to open up the scoring in the first quarter. Brown has now recorded 192 rushing attempts on the season and 72 combined rushes over the past two games, though he will have two weeks to rest up before the Fighting Illini’s next game against Nebraska on Saturday, Oct. 29.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Game Notes
Casey Thompson was 16-for-29 passing for 354 yards during Saturday’s 43-37 loss versus Purdue. Thompson had six completions of at least 30 yards and two of 64 yards or more Saturday, and he also added a 31-yard rush. Both of his touchdown passes came in the third quarter on completions of 37 and 72 yards to wide receiver Trey Palmer. Thompson could have scored more, but the Cornhuskers failed to come away with touchdowns on two of their four red-zone trips. The junior has now thrown two interceptions in three of Nebraska’s seven games this season, and he’ll look to clean up these mistakes before facing a much tougher Illinois defense during Nebraska’s next game in Week 9.
