East Carolina Pirates Game Notes

Holton Ahlers completed 30 of 36 passes for 311 yards and a touchdown, adding five carries for six yards and score in Saturday's 34-13 win over UCF. Ahlers had a near-perfect passing game against a good UCF team, and has been fairly consistent throughout this season. His 83.3 percent completion rate is his best so far, and he threw for over 300 yards for the third time in the last four games. The only downside to his recent production has been a lack of touchdowns having thrown just three in the past three games.

BYU Cougars Game Notes

Jaren Hall's 16-of-34 pass attempts for 187 yards and two touchdowns mirrored what happened to BYU in the 41-14 loss to Liberty on Saturday, Oct. 22. It appeared to be a game that was expected from Hall as the junior threw for a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter. But everything went south after that. If you go by quarterback rating, it was the lowest of the season for Hall at 112.7. Even when BYU was down by 27 early in the fourth quarter, the Cougars' offense sputtered and could not muster garbage-time scores. The Cougars' junior signal-caller has a good chance of rebounding against a poor pass defense in East Carolina on Friday, Oct. 28. The Pirates have allowed 281 passing yards per game so far this season.
