Virginia Tech vs. Pittsburgh Predictions
Is Virginia Tech a safe bet to cover on the road tonight versus Pittsburgh at 7:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Hokies are 3.5-point road favorites versus the Panthers after they were listed at -4.5 over the last few days. As for the total, the number hit the board at 59 earlier this week but has since been bet down to 57.5.

The Hokies have covered the spread in four of their last five games when facing opponents with a winning record and are also 4-1 against the number in their last five games overall. They’re covering in conference games as well, going 6-2 at the betting window in their last eight games versus ACC foes and are 22-10 against the number in their last 32 games played on Thursday night.
The Panthers have been a poor bet to cover at home, going 5-17 against the number in their last 22 home games and are also 2-7 at the betting window in their last nine games overall. They’re winless at 0-5 against the spread in their last five games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game as well.

OUR PREDICTION: The Panthers average the second most points per game in the ACC at 38.4, behind only Louisville. They also enter play tonight having scored more than 35 points in six consecutive games, which is the longest active streak in the FBS and the longest in school history. That said, they’re likely to struggle tonight against a VA Tech defense that allows only 103.6 rushing yards per game and 17.9 points per game. Those figures rank 11th and 16th in the FBS, respectively. The Hokies can match up well with the Panthers strengths and I like they to win a close game and cover the spread.
