Ducks looking impressive
Since losing to Auburn by six in the season opener, Oregon has rattled off six straight victories, including a 35-31 win at Washington last weekend. The Ducks are now 6-1 on the season, 4-0 in the Pac-12, 4-3 against the spread and 5-2 with the under.
Usually known for being a dominant offense, it’s the Oregon defense that has been the story this year. The Ducks are giving up just 11.9 points and 291.3 yards per game this season. Jevon Holland is leading the defense with 27 tackles and three interceptions. Oregon is still pretty respectable on offense as well, averaging 35.9 points and 462 yards per game. Justin Herbert is leading the offense with 1,882 passing yards and 21 touchdowns while CJ Verdell is leading the ground attack with 496 yards. Jacob Breeland is the leading receiver with 26 catches for 405 yards and six scores.
Washington State gets needed win
Washington State put an end to a three-game losing streak last weekend when it picked up a 41-10 win over Colorado at home. The Cougars are now 4-3 on the season, 1-3 in the Pac-12, 2-5 against the spread and 4-3 with the under.
The Cougars have one of the best offenses in the nation, but one of the worst defenses as well. The Washington State offense is putting up 42.7 points and 532.7 yards per game, while the defense is giving up 28.7 points and 439.1 yards per contest. Anthony Gordon has thrown for 2,981 yards and 29 touchdowns this year to lead the team. Easop Winston Jr. is the leading receiver with 47 receptions for 578 yards and nine scores. Max Borghi is leading the ground attack with 512 yards and six touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Oregon
The Ducks have covered the spread in four of their last five conference games and in five of their last seven following a win.
Washington State
The Cougars are 23-9 against the spread in their last 32 games following a cover, but have failed to cover in four straight following a win.
Prediction:
Washington State has been a problem for Oregon. The Cougars have won four straight in the series while covering the spread in nine straight against Oregon. However, that was done with a lot of offense. This Oregon defense is far superior to anything the Cougars have seen over these last nine meetings. The Ducks have allowed single digits in points in every home game. Washington State is going to get a lot of resistance today and I don’t expect them to respond well to it. The Cougars also don’t have an offense that can stop anyone, so Oregon’s offense should see a spike in production to help the cover.
