According to the latest oddsmakers, Arizona State is favored on the road, as the Sun Devils are getting odds of -3 points against UCLA. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 55.5 points. UCLA ends losing streak
UCLA picked up its second win of the season last week with a 34-16 road win at Stanford. The Bruins are 2-5 on the year, with both wins coming in the road. UCLA is 2-2 in the Pac-12, 2-4-1 against the spread and 4-3 with the under.
The Bruins have struggled defensively this year, allowing 34.6 points and 459.7 yards per game. Offensively, UCLA is averaging 27.3 points and 405.6 yards per contest. Dorian Thompson-Robinson has thrown for 1,435 yards and 13 touchdowns to lead the offense, but he also has seven interceptions. Joshua Kelley has rushed for 571 yards and four scores while Demetric Felton has 34 receptions for 420 yards and three scores. Felton also has 298 rushing yards.
ASU humbled by Utah
Arizona State is coming off a 21-3 loss at Utah last weekend to fall to 5-2 on the season. The Sun Devils are now 2-2 in the Pac-12 Conference, 3-4 against the spread and 5-2 with the under.
ASU has been led this season by its defense, as the Sun Devils are giving up just 18.1 points and 352.7 yards per game. Offensively, Arizona State is averaging just 22.1 points and 364.6 yards per contest. Eno Benjamin is leading the team with 633 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Jayden Daniels has thrown for 1,635 yards and eight scores while Brandon Aiyuk has caught 32 passes for 658 yards and five scores.
College Football Betting Trends
UCLA is just 1-3-2 against the spread in their last six games on grass and 4-15-2 ATS in their last 21 games following a win.
The Sun Devils are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games following a loss, but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games on grass.
Arizona State has won three of the last four against UCLA, but the Bruins have covered the spread in two straight against the Sun Devils. UCLA has been pretty puzzling, as they have managed to win at Stanford and Washington State, but then lose by 17 at home over Oregon State. ASU has slipped up twice this year, including the road loss at Utah. However, the Sun Devils still have manufactured wins in close games and I trust them more in tight situations. This game is likely to be close, as ASU plays to the level of its competition. However, their decision-making on both sides of the ball will lead them to the narrow victory and cover.
