Baylor vs. Texas Pick
Will quarterbacks Seth Russell and Shane Buechele light up the scoreboard so bettors can cash the over in Baylor vs. Texas this Saturday?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Bears are now 3-point road favorites versus the Longhorns in Saturday’s 3:30PM ET matchup between Big 12 foes. Baylor opened as a 2.5-point favorite before the line went to 3, while the total opened at 69 and that’s where it currently sits.

The Bears enter Week 9 with a perfect 6-0 record but are just 2-4 against the spread. They did cover two weeks ago in a 49-7 pasting of Kansas as a 33.5-point favorite but their only other cover came in a 35-24 win over Oklahoma State as a 7-point favorite on September 24. The under is also 5-1 in Baylor’s six games, giving way to the notion that the Bears aren’t as explosive offensively without former head coach Art Briles.
The Longhorns suffered their fourth loss in their last five games when they couldn’t mount a big enough comeback in a 24-21 loss at Kansas State last Saturday. Texas is now 3-4 on the year and the hot seat under coach Charlie Strong continues to get hotter by the week. One bright spot for Texas backers? The Longhorns are 4-3 against the spread this season despite failing to cover as a 1-point favorite last week versus the Wildcats.

OUR PICK: Despite the under cashing on a consistent basis in Baylor games, the Bears are still averaging 43.7 points per game this season. Their defense is the unit that is holding back over bettors from cashing, as Baylor is allowing just 17.2 points per game, which is 11th in the nation. That said, outside of Oklahoma State, Baylor hasn’t faced many offensive juggernauts this season and Texas will move the ball better than previous Bears opponents Kansas, Rice and SMU. The over is 4-1 in the Longhorns’ last five games coming off a successful cover and is 25-20 in the Bears’ last 35 games coming off a straight up win of more than 20 points.
