Aggies coming off big win
Utah State is coming off a 36-10 win at home over Nevada last weekend to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Aggies are 3-0 in the Mountain West Conference, 4-2 against the spread and 4-2 with the under.
The Aggies are a solid offense, averaging 32.7 points and 453.3 yards per game on offense. The Utah State defense is giving up 23 points and 406.2 yards per contest. Jordan Love has thrown for 1,506 yards and seven touchdowns, but also has nine interceptions. Gerold Bright and Jaylen Warren have combined for 845 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground while Siaosi Mariner is the leading receiver with 26 catches for 403 yards.
Falcons staying in the mix
Air Force is coming off a 56-26 win at Hawaii last weekend to stay in the Mountain West Conference mix. The Falcons are 5-2 on the year, 3-1 in the MWC, 4-3 against the spread and 5-2 with the over.
The Falcons are respectable on both sides of the ball. The defense is allowing just 24 points and 335.7 yards per game, while the offense is putting up 37.4 points and 439.6 yards per contest. Air Force has the second-leading ground attack in the nation at 305.9 yards per game. Kadin Remsberg leads the way with 531 rushing yards and five scores. Quarterback Donald Hammond III has rushed for 258 yards and eight scores while throwing for 677 yards and five touchdowns. However, he is dealing with a shoulder injury that has him listed as questionable for this game. Geraud Sanders is his leading receiver with 20 catches for 479 yards and four touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Utah State
The Aggies are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 games following a cover and 14-5 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
Air Force
The Falcons are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games on grass, but just 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 conference games.
Prediction:
The home team has won four of the last five in this series, with Air Force winning and covering in three of the last four encounters. You’ll have to keep an eye on the injury situation with Hammond, but I think Air Force is the play if he is able to go. I think Air Force has faced better competition this season and performed better than Utah State. The Aggies have a nice win at San Diego State, but I think going to Air Force and stopping that ground attack will be a problem. The Aggies don’t have the defensive abilities that Air Force has and I think that will be the difference.
College Football Week 9 Prediction: Air Force -3.5
