BC gets home win
After back-to-back close losses, Boston College was able to grab a 45-24 win at home over N.C. State last weekend. The win moves the Eagles to 4-3 on the season, 2-2 in the ACC, 5-2 against the spread and 5-2 with the over.
Surprisingly, Boston College has been a great offensive team and awful defensive team this year, a far cry from what we usually get from the Eagles. BC is averaging 34.6 points and 493.7 yards per game on offense while giving up 28.1 points and 460.4 yards per game on defense. BC lost QB Anthony Brown for the season with a knee injury a few weeks ago. Dennis Grosel has taken over and has thrown for 235 yards and three touchdowns in his limited action. AJ Dillon leads the offense with 968 rushing yards and nine touchdowns while David Bailey has 510 yards and four scores.
Tigers keep winning
Clemson keeps winning games, but keeps sliding in the rankings. The Tigers are coming off a dominant 45-10 win at Louisville last week, but slipped to No. 4 in the latest poll. Clemson is 7-0 on the season, 5-0 in the ACC, 5-2 against the spread and 5-2 with the under.
The Tigers rank in the top 10 nationally on offense and defense. The offense is putting up 40 points and 504.7 yards per game this year, while the defense is giving up 12 points and 256 yards per contest. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 1,534 yards and 14 touchdowns this year, but also has eight interceptions. Travis Etienne has rushed for 781 yards and six touchdowns. Tee Higgins is the leading receiver with 25 catches for 552 yards and three touchdowns, while Isaiah Simmons leads the defense with 59 tackles and six sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Boston College
The Eagles are 4-1 with the over in their last five ACC games, but 16-7 with the under in their last 23 games in October.
Clemson
The Tigers are 5-1 with the under in their last six and have hit the under in four straight ACC games.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in their last two meetings, largely due to Boston College’s inability to score on Clemson. That could be the problem again this week. BC is without its starting QB, which is likely going to be a problem as he gets his first road start against this Clemson defense. The Tigers aren’t giving up many points at home. The Clemson offense shouldn’t have trouble scoring on BC’s struggling defense, but the Tigers haven’t been a team that has run up the score a lot this year. I think it’s another 45-10-type game on Saturday.
