Indiana vs. Northwestern Prediction
Will Northwestern be able to keep their win streak going when they host Indiana today at Noon ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Northwestern is favored at home in this game, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Hoosiers. The over/under total for the game has been set at 52.5 points. Northwestern has won four straight in this series, but the Hoosiers are 3-2 against the spread in the last five meetings.
Northwestern is coming off a 54-40 win at Michigan State last week to move to 3-3 on the season and 2-1 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats are now 3-3 against the spread as well, covering in three of their last four games. Northwestern is averaging 26.2 points and 373.7 yards per game on offense while the defense is allowing 23.2 points and 416.3 yards per game on defense. The team is led by back Justin Jackson, who has run for 698 yards and six touchdowns this season while Clayton Thorson has thrown for 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Indiana is coming off a 27-22 loss to Nebraska last week to drop to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers are 3-3 against the spread as well. The Hoosiers have been held to 28 points or less in four straight and are averaging just 25.8 points per game on the season despite averaging 433.5 yards per game. Richard Lagow has thrown for 1,656 yards and 12 touchdowns, but has nine interceptions. Devine Redding has run for 548 yards and a touchdown as well. The IU defense has been improved this year, giving up just 25.3 points and 372.5 yards per contest.
Northwestern is rolling right now as they head home. Back-to-back wins over Iowa and Michigan State have given them a new outlook on the season. They face an Indiana team that can be tough, but isn’t known for big road victories. The spread isn’t much for the Wildcats to cover either, so I say jump on them at home.
