Oklahoma vs. Texas Tech Pick
Will Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes light up the scoreboard for bettors on Saturday night when the two teams clash at 8:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Sooners are 13.5-point road favorites versus the Red Raiders while the over/under currently sits at 84 points. Neither the side nor the total have moved off the original numbers as of this writing.
The Sooners are currently in the midst of a three-game winning streak after beating TCU, Texas and Kansas State to start the month of October. Mayfield completed 25-of-31 passes for 346 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. Dede Westbrook was on the receiving end of three of those touchdown passes, as the receiver racked up nine receptions and 184 yards in the win. That victory gave Oklahoma a 4-2 record overall but the Sooners are just 2-4 against the spread this season.
Texas Tech enters play with a 3-3 record after dropping two straight. The Red Raiders were suffocated by West Virginia’s underrated defense a week ago and were held under 38 points for the first time all season. Mahomes still threw for 305 yards on 28-of-44 passing with one touchdown and one interception, but the defense couldn’t stop the Mountaineers from racking up 332 yards on the ground.
OUR PREDICTION: The over is 5-0 in the last five games between these two teams and s 11-3 in the Red Raiders’ last 14 home games. The over is also 14-6 in Texas Tech’s last 20 games overall, is 9-4 in its last 13 conference games and has cashed in five of the Sooners’ last seven road games. The Red Raiders are allowing a staggering 479.2 yards per game this season, which ranks 117th in the nation. They’re also 124th in points allowed, surrendering 40.2 PPG while also averaging 48.8 PPG on offense. Don’t be scared off by the high number.
